The ocean is inhabited by various creatures that each use different means and ways of survival. ecommerce could be considered the digital ocean, where different players with various points of view and experiences come together and make up the entire scene. Under the motto “Digital Blue”, our entire Community gathered for the Shopware Community Day to exchange different ideas, discuss new trends, and, of course, celebrate with one another.
“Digital Blue” references the extensive, varied and often unexplored digital ocean. And just as in the depths of the digital ocean, ecommerce also follows classic natural laws of nature: hunt or be hunted, thrive and reproduce, protect your own kind and utilize the latest technologies. Keeping with the theme, this year’s 10,000 Euro donation went to The Ocean Cleanup Project, which is the world’s largest project devoted to removing harmful plastics from the ocean. Next to Shopware’s donation, visitors had the opportunity to make personal donations to the Dutch start-up at the “Shopware Ocean Jump powered by PayPal”. Joost Dubois, Marketing Manager at The Ocean Cleanup, opened the attraction by jumping from its 7m-high base into the cushion below.
During the voyage into the Digital Blue, Stefan Hamann made several exciting announcements during his keynote speech: with the release of Shopware 5.2, Premium Plugins will no longer be encrypted using IonCube, thus making the software completely open source. This means each line of code can be accessed by developers, enabling them to make any number of adjustments to meet specific project demands. In addition, the software now allows users to create any number of subshops, without paying any additional fees.
There was much to discuss at the legendary after parts at the neighbouring Bamboo! club. So with cool drinks and delicious food, the guests enjoyed an evening of networking in a relaxed atmosphere. The Drum Stars, who also closed the main event, performed an impressive set at the after party, kicking off the long night ahead of the visitors. Now, behind us lies an extremely exciting day, which also proved to use once again that we are certainly on the right path by remaining so close to our Community.
