On 1 October 2019, the European Court of Justice ruled that end users must give explicit and active consent before an online shop can place cookies on their device. In our guest article from Händlerbund, we already answered important questions concerning the cookie decision of the ECJ.

In this follow-up article we want to show you how this recent ruling has been closely considered In our products Shopware 5 and Shopware 6.

How Shopware's cookie settings have been updated

Shopware 6

In Shopware 6.1, the new Cooking Consent Tool will already be integrated in the core as a standard function in order to react to the new ECJ judgment regarding an opt-in obligation for cookies.

The main difference to the consent solution for Shopware 5 is that the cookie configuration will always be active and does not require any manual adjustments. If your shop is already running on Shopware 6, all you need to do is make an update to display the cookie settings in your shop.

Cookies that are required are already listed – plugin manufacturers have the option to add additional cookies for their extensions. Moreover, your settings will be stored in their cookies for 30 days.
