Schöppingen, Germany, 9 July 2019 – Shopware senior management is preparing for the future: Three new directors – Herbert Lefering, Jörn Paulsen and Josua Seiler – will strengthen the management team with immediate effect. The managers each have experience in online retail and come from comprehensive technical or sales backgrounds. Stefan Hamann and Sebastian Hamann, who will jointly manage shopware AG, will become members of the Management Board.
The expertise provided by Lefering, Paulsen and Seiler comes at a time when Shopware has introduced an entirely new eCommerce system and is repositioning itself to market the system. “Shopware 6 can be used in virtually any eCommerce scenario and therefore calls for strong technical and sales expertise. With the three new directors, we have secured important knowledge to lay the foundation for this task”, explains Stefan Hamann, Shopware founder and CEO.
Expansion of international sales
Herbert Lefering, in his capacity as Director Sales, is responsible for international sales at Shopware with immediate effect. As a trained business economist, Herbert previously worked as an independent management consultant before joining the IT sector. For a decade, the sales expert was in charge of the development and management of global sales for Tobit Software AG, before launching the EMEA business for Canadian company GWAVA, which he managed for 16 years.
Jörn Paulsen is Shopware’s new Director of SaaS Products & Services and is responsible for developing the SaaS (“software as a service”) market. With a degree in media technology, Paulsen initially gained his more than 20 years’ experience in the digital sector as a developer for an agency in Hamburg. In 2009, he joined an eCommerce start-up in Cologne as Head of Product. There, in cooperation with Tengelmann Ventures and the Otto Group, he developed the SaaS shop system SUPR. In the role of COO, he later played a key role in the acquisition by Wirecard AG, where, as Vice President, he promoted the further scaling of the product.
Practical experience in eCommerce since 2001
Josua Seiler also joins the Shopware management team as the new Director of Product & Technology. Josua Seiler has been gathering experience with Shopware since 2012 as Managing Director of the agency conexco – one of the few Shopware partners that supported the implementation of complex projects from the start. Before setting up conexco, Seiler was part of the founding team of pauldirekt GmbH and, as Managing Director, was responsible for the conception and successful development of one of Germany’s leading online shopping clubs. He gained his first experience as early as 2001 with the development of various online shops.
The question of extending the contracts of members of the Management Board has also been on the agenda again. The appointment of Stefan Hamann and Sebastian Hamann as members of the Management Board has been extended until 31 December 2022. This too constitutes an important decision in terms of the management structure for the coming years. Stefan and Sebastian Hamann are delighted to be in a position to continue with the ongoing development of shopware AG together with all the employees of the company. The appointment of Stefan Heyne to the Management Board has not been extended and he will no longer be a member of the Management Board.
Heyne joined the company in 2007 and had been head of sales ever since. “Stefan Heyne has made a major contribution to our national and international growth over the last 12 years. We are very grateful for all his hard work for the company and wish him the very best for the future”, says Reinhold Wellers, Chairperson of the Shopware Supervisory Board.

Wiljo Krechting is an ecommerce expert and Manager Public Relations at the ecommerce platform provider Shopware. The media professional has a master’s degree in political science and journalism from the universities of Münster and Melbourne, where he gained experience as a foreign correspondent for the publisher Axel-Springer-Verlag.
