Schöppingen, Germany, 02.09.2021 – At this year’s Shopware Community Day, Shopware celebrated its open commerce philosophy together with 5,000 digital attendees. On three virtual stages and in over 30 masterclasses, the software company introduced ground-breaking new features, inspired with spectacular speakers like Gary Vaynerchuk and Steve Wozniak, and presented a world premiere for the new infotainment platform Shopware TV.
The eleventh edition of the Shopware Community Day was a special one: What started out as a small company exhibition in 2011 has developed into a unique ecommerce event in a little more than a decade. In 2021, Shopware was proud to announce a new record attendance: 5,000 participants from all over the world came together to discuss the challenges of digital retail, underlining the growth of the global community over the past few years.

Ground-breaking new features
In the opening keynote, Shopware CEO Sebastian Hamann introduced two new software features: The new Flow Builder provides retailers with the intelligence to automate a myriad of business processes, without having to write a single line of code. “This helps shop owners elevate their business without needing a huge budget or any development experience. With the Flow Builder, shop owners have a powerful tool that saves a lot of time and money, increases efficiency, and creates even more flexibility. Over the last couple of months, we have seen how important it is to react quickly to changing markets and be able to support emerging digital business models – and the Flow Builder makes it easier than ever to intelligently model and automate these new processes,” says Hamann.
Another major feature update came with the announcement of Guided Shopping. Hamann said: “Guided Shopping is the state-of-the art new feature that seamlessly integrates into a Shopware system landscape and cooperates with the existing ecommerce infrastructure. With this feature, shop owners can create interactive live video events for their customers straight from their Shopware website – without having to switch between a presentation tool, video conferencing system and store system. Shop owners get one sophisticated solution to highlight products, engage their customers and reinforce brand loyalty.”
More good news was in store for fans of Shopware TV, the new infotainment platform: “New Kid in Town”, the series that documents the story of how Shopware was founded, will release a sixth episode on September 13th, 2021, with the world premiere taking place right at the SCD.
Spectacular speakers and diverse topics
Next to the upcoming features and company news, this year’s speaker line-up was an undisputed highlight, with two of the most influential public figures in the history of the SCD joining the program: Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak and Gary Vaynerchuk, one of the leading global experts on culture, relevance, and the internet. In addition to 90 other inspiring speakers – including Peer Stemmler, Head of DACH at Zoom and IT-expert Aya Jaff – the one-of-a-kind event offered a massive selection of over 30 masterclasses throughout the day.

Moderated by Claire Oelkers, the live program featured an array of topics presented on three digital stages. On the SCD Studio Stage, Shopware and guest speakers captivated visitors with exclusive insights into the digital world. On the Solution Stage, retailers went behind the scenes of inspiring real-life cases, while the Tech Stage was the place to be for anyone interested in diving into the technical side of Shopware and its ecosystem.
This way, every participant could easily build their day around the content that interested them most, ask questions, network, and fully immerse themselves in the Shopware Community Day.
