Shopware donates 20.000 Euro to charities

Schöppingen, 18.01.2021 – In 2020, shopware AG had its 20th anniversary, and to celebrate that occasion, decided to donate more than 20.000 Euros to charities close to their heart. The special thing about this fundraising campaign was the involvement of the community, which was invited to decide how the money would be distributed.

“We are convinced that in times where we ourselves are doing well, we should especially think of those that haven’t been as fortunate. That’s why we decided at the end of a year, in which we were able to celebrate our 20th anniversary, to do something good together with our community,” says Sebastian Hamann, CEO of shopware AG.

In order to do that, Shopware chose five projects close to their heart: The Ocean Cleanup, NABU, #handforahand, Medicins Sans Frontiers and Herzenswünsche. “Health, environmental protection, and promoting education and culture are deeply rooted in our company values of being “open”, “authentic”, and “visionary”. With this fundraising campaign, we want to take a stance by supporting people and organisations that dedicate themselves to just that,” says Hamann. The community could then vote for their favorite organization and influence how one half of the 20.000 Euros was distributed between the projects. The other half was split evenly among all charities, so that everybody was a winner in this fundraising campaign.

On top of that, the community was able to suggest projects close to their heart. One of the suggestions, FIAN Germany, was then drawn in the lottery and given 2.000 Euros on top of the 20.000 Euros for the other projects.
