A new month has begun, and so does a new Shopware 6 minor release. Here we present you the most important new features.
Assign variant images more conveniently and quickly
You can assign your own images to variant products. This makes a lot of sense when the variants look different from one another. What’s new: Assigning images is now even easier for you to do in the administration. Now you can also assign the images to the variants directly by using the new variant overview in the product listing. You can do the same via the media selection in the product details. You can read more about quick changes here.
Your safety is important to us: We’re increasing the Captcha variants
No one likes to be flooded with spam emails or find computer-generated fake reviews in an online shop. That’s why we now offer you solutions to prevent just that. In the administration, under Settings > Basic information, you’ll now find not only Honeypot as a security measure against bots and the like. We’re also adding Basis Captcha, Google reCAPTCHA v2 and v3 to this section to offer you the best possible protection. This allows you to choose your desired captcha variant from a total of four options – for optimal levels of protection. You can read more about the different solutions in our documentation.
Good to know: What are captcha solutions anyway?
Captcha solutions aim to protect interactive websites and online shops from being misused. How does it work? The classic scenario: The user is asked to enter a difficult-to-recognise sequence of letters and numbers (a so-called captcha code). Verification procedures can vary and aren’t necessarily always text or image-based. You might also come across audio output or mathematical variants here. Either way, captcha solutions always generate tasks that can be easily mastered by humans, but that computers couldn’t solve. Hence the name “captcha”, which stands for: "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart". So whether you’re dealing with email/newsletter forms or comment features: captcha solutions can protect you against automatically generated content by bots and the like.
Important note regarding to themes ⚠️
With this release a new function for captchas in forms has been integrated. When using a custom theme, adjustments of the theme might be necessary, e.g. when using a custom newsletter form. More information can be found here: Upgrade Information.
Support for nested line items for storefront and administration
We have revised the nested line items so that they are now supported in every view of the frontend. This also applies to administration, emails and documents. This new core function is especially helpful for extension manufacturers. Get to know more about nested line items in our developer documentation.
App system improvements
We improved our app system further: Events are now running asynchronously.
