Shopware 6 Release News: Discover the new features in March 2026

With Shopware 6.7.8.0, we’re releasing the minor update for March. This release introduces new capabilities for working with video, expands B2B functionality with individual pricing, and improves transparency and structure across the administration and storefront.

You’ll find all the details in the sections below.

Overview:

Release news general updates clean blue

Seamless video integration for products & CMS

Videos are now managed as a native media type within the Media Manager. During upload, a progress bar provides clear feedback, and uploads continue reliably in the background even if the user navigates to another page, preventing interruptions. Merchants can upload, preview, and reuse videos across products and CMS pages through a consistent selection interface.

How it works

A dedicated Video CMS element allows direct embedding of videos with configurable playback options such as autoplay, looping, controls, and inline playback.

Additionally, cover images can be assigned to videos via quick actions in the Media Manager. These covers are previewed instantly in the administration and displayed as posters in the storefront until playback starts, ensuring visual consistency.

Advantages

  • No dependency on external video platforms

  • UI/UX improvements in the administration while uploading and managing videos

  • Reliable and interruption-free uploads with progress visibility and background processing

  • Improved storefront player and overall storytelling

  • Increased product engagement and presentation

More transparency and structure in the administration

With Shopware 6.7.8.0, we’ve introduced several refinements in the administration aimed at making processes more transparent and complex setups easier to manage.

Internal comments for state changes

You can now add internal comments to order state changes. These comments are visible only in the administration and help teams better document and track changes within the order state history.

Internal product streams

Product streams can now be marked as “internal.” While they remain available for system or plugin use, they no longer appear in merchant-facing selection lists – for example in categories, CMS elements, or cross-selling configurations. This creates a clearer separation between technical and operational content.

Additional administration improvements

These updates are complemented by smaller but noticeable optimizations:

  • Notifications now update automatically when the interface language changes

  • Variant handling has been refined

  • Custom fields of type “Colorpicker” can now include a help text

  • The behavior of certain select components has been optimized

Your benefits:

Greater clarity, improved internal documentation, and a more structured administration experience – especially valuable for complex shop setups or B2B environments.

Improvements in the storefront

The new release introduces targeted improvements in the storefront to enhance transparency and accessibility.

Selling and packaging information with advanced pricing rules

On the product detail page, selling and packaging information is now displayed correctly for products using advanced pricing rules. This provides customers with greater clarity around quantities and pricing – especially relevant for more complex pricing structures or B2B scenarios.

Improved accessibility for notification and alert elements

Accessibility for static notification and alert elements has been further enhanced. Content that is already present in the DOM when the page loads can now be properly announced by screen readers. This ensures a more accessible user experience and helps shops meet modern accessibility standards.

Your benefits:

Greater transparency in product presentation and improved accessibility – without requiring fundamental changes to your shop setup.

Release news Developer news clean blue

With Shopware 6.7.8.0, several technical enhancements have been implemented to strengthen platform stability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

Performance optimizations in the DAL and indexing

The query generation for nested filter groups has been reworked. Instead of multiple LEFT JOINs, more efficient EXISTS subqueries are now used. This reduces complex join chains and significantly improves performance for advanced queries.

In addition, the CategoryIndexer has been optimized. Certain updaters are now only executed when relevant changes occur, leading to more efficient indexing processes.

Introduction of product.type and deprecation of product.states

The existing product.states field is being replaced by the new product.type field. This clearly distinguishes between product types such as physical or digital and can be extended by third-party developers in the future.

If you are using rules, product streams, or filters based on product.states, make sure to migrate them to product.type.

Additional technical updates

  • Update of doctrine/dbal to version 4.4

  • Improved primary key validation in the dal:validate command

  • Deprecations related to HTTP cache configuration

For a complete overview of all technical changes and deprecations, check the Changelog.

Release news Commercial features & services news clean blue

This section is about features that are not included in the Community Edition. Take a look at our overview to compare the different Shopware plans and activate the Shopware Commercial extension to use the commercial features.

New for B2B Components: Individual Pricing

With Individual Pricing, we introduce a rule-based pricing engine as part of our B2B Components. It enables B2B merchants to define customer-specific price books and apply discounts across selected products or entire catalogs.

Merchants can configure percentage-based, total, or tiered discounts based on defined rules and assign them to specific organization units or customer tags. This makes it possible to reflect negotiated terms directly in the storefront without manual adjustments.

Key benefits:

  • Customer-specific pricing visible directly in the storefront

  • Rule-based discounts aligned with product or customer attributes

  • Consistent pricing structures across large B2B catalogs

  • Reduced manual effort when managing complex pricing agreements

Individual Pricing helps B2B merchants translate negotiated conditions into scalable, transparent pricing logic within the platform.

You can also read more about individual pricing in our documentation.

Shopware Migration Tool 16.0.0 – independent release

Independent of Shopware 6.7.8.0, a new version of the Shopware Migration Tool has been released. Version 16.0.0 sets a new standard for seamless, transparent, and reliable system migrations.

Designed to give merchants and partners full control throughout the entire migration process, it combines powerful diagnostics with practical, hands-on resolution capabilities.

Smarter error handling and clear explanations

Errors are now explained in a clear, structured, and actionable way. Instead of generic technical messages, users receive precise information about the root cause, affected entities, and recommended next steps – significantly reducing troubleshooting time.

Fix data issues directly within the tool

Data inconsistencies no longer require external corrections. The new integrated correction layer allows users to directly resolve common data issues inside the migration workflow. Invalid mappings, missing associations, or formatting conflicts can be reviewed and corrected immediately – without restarting the entire process.

Advanced inspection and deep data analysis

The enhanced inspection feature provides a detailed, entity-level overview of migrated and pending data, offering greater transparency and control during complex migration projects.
