Shopware development for merchants who need more than a template

CODEWERK SOLUTIONS is a specialist Shopware agency working with merchants across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We build, migrate and maintain Shopware 5 and Shopware 6 stores — with a focus on the technical foundation that keeps a shop running reliably as it grows.

Our clients range from established B2C retailers to B2B wholesalers with several thousand products, multiple sales channels and connected ERP systems. What they have in common is that a standard installation is not enough: they need custom functionality, clean data flows and infrastructure that holds up under load.

Migration from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6

Migration is our core discipline. We handle the entire transition rather than just the data transfer: analysis of the existing installation, review of every plugin for a Shopware 6 equivalent, rebuild of the theme and content pages, migration of products, categories, customers and orders, and a controlled go-live outside business hours.

We work on staging environments throughout, so the production shop is never the test system. Before go-live we verify the complete order process — from product page to payment confirmation — including sales channels, domains, payment and shipping configuration.

Custom plugin development

We develop extensions for Shopware 5 and Shopware 6 using PHP, Symfony and Vue.js. Our work includes CMS elements, B2B functionality, licence key management for digital products, direct download handling, one-page checkouts and category sliders.

We write plugins that survive updates. That means following Shopware's extension points instead of overwriting core behaviour — the difference shows at the next major release.

Theme and frontend development

Custom themes built from scratch, or targeted development on an existing template. We work with Twig, SCSS and JavaScript, and pay attention to responsive behaviour, accessibility and conversion-relevant details rather than visual effects alone.

Import, export and product feeds

Automated product, stock and price imports from CSV, XML, JSON or directly via API — including field mapping, validation and error logging, so a malformed supplier file does not silently corrupt the catalogue.

On the outbound side we build custom export formats for suppliers and fulfilment partners, and product feeds for Google Shopping, Idealo, Amazon, eBay and price comparison portals, adapted to individual category structures, variants and pricing logic.

Process automation

We automate recurring work: order and status synchronisation, stock reconciliation, document delivery, scheduled price updates and background jobs. Every manual step removed is one less source of error.

ERP and payment integration

Interfaces to ERP and inventory systems including Xentral, JTL and MyFactory. On the payment side we integrate and troubleshoot PayPal, Mollie and Stripe — including the cases that only appear in production, such as timeouts, failed callbacks and orders that finalise without a payment record.

Performance and infrastructure

Load times and Core Web Vitals are an infrastructure question as much as a frontend one. We work with Cloudflare, CDN and S3-compatible object storage, Elasticsearch and OpenSearch, Redis caching and database tuning for catalogues in the hundred-gigabyte range.

Where hosting is the limiting factor, we say so and work with the provider on sizing, scaling and separating staging from production.

How we work

We look beyond the code at the whole operation. Hosting, scaling, resilience and data protection are part of the conversation, not an afterthought.

When something breaks in production, we trace it to the root cause. Patching a symptom is faster in the moment and more expensive over a year.

We are direct about what is feasible, what it costs and what we would not recommend. Clients who want a supplier who simply says yes are not a good match for us.
