Finally, the time had come – a legendary Shopware Community Day 2022 is now behind us! With 1,000 visitors on site and a further 5,000 online attendees, SCD 2022 was for the first time a completely hybrid event, bringing together the global Shopware community to share the latest tech innovations, meaningful market developments and impressive business ideas.

Interesting facts and figures about the SCD 2022

This year it was "Back to the Roots". Because this year's Shopware Community Day also took place exactly where it all began 12 years ago. Back on the spectacular Tobit Campus in Ahaus, live on the big stage, there were not just nostalgic memories, but also the joy of finally being able to experience the SCD 2022 together on site again. Since its inception in 2011, the SCD has been regarded as an important networking event. It's about interaction and cooperation as well as sharing our common interest: shaping the ecommerce of the future. The legendary after-show party following the day's program was also a complete success and offered plenty of opportunity for interaction in a relaxed atmosphere.

Speaking of the day's program – this year, the approximately 6,000 participants at the Shopware Community Day had the opportunity to listen to over 30 presentations, panel discussions and interviews from more than 40 top-class speakers. The selection ranged over three stages, each with a thematic focus. 


Remote viewers in front of the screen were also able to express their emotions.

Three stages, inspiring speakers and a varied program 

On the Inspiration Stage, hosted by Claire Oelkers, leading ecommerce greats shared valuable insights, expert knowledge and ingenious new concepts. The program on the Inspiration Stage was an absolute must for anyone not wanting to miss important trends in digital trade.  

Not only did the Open Commerce Talk by Ben Marks inspire numerous listeners, but the well-known darts player Fallon Sherrock and basketball champion Dirk Nowitzki also gave exciting insights into their fascinating careers. In addition, the keynote speech by Shopware founder and co-CEO Sebastian Hamann, who was supported by Daniel Nögel and Moritz Naczenski as part of his inspiring talk, was an absolute highlight on the Inspiration Stage, and also unveiled exciting news. But more about that later! 


Shopware Community Day 2022: A small selection of the speaker line-up

The Experience Stage, hosted by Heike Zellerhoff, was dedicated to the question of how visionary entrepreneurs and pioneers of digital commerce are breaking new ground to hold their own in today's competitive market environment. Ambitious ecommerce players were offered an optimal stage to share their expert knowledge. 

This stage was used, for example, by Sabrina Berkenkopf, who works as a technical product owner in the ecommerce department at first division Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. She explained why football fans are very special customers. In addition, the lecture focusing on Digital Sales Rooms turned out to be a real crowd puller. Marcel Korzen from the Wortmann Group, which includes major brands such as Tamaris, S.Oliver and more, took to the stage together with Boris Redlich from Shopware to illustrate the potential of digital sales rooms.

The Tech Stage program was optimally attuned to the developer mindset, making it indispensable for any developer. Here, our host Niklas Dzösch presented a wide range of topics to do with the latest tech innovations in digital commerce. Participants were offered the opportunity to take a look into the future of ecommerce and gain exclusive insights into the world behind the code. 

In addition, Filip Rakowski, co-founder & CTO of Vue Storefront, gave an exceptional talk on the topic of web performance. The host lightened the atmosphere with an amusing Shopware Edition of a 'Family Feud' style game, testing developer knowledge.

We have news!

But now let's move on to our previously announced groundbreaking news that we shared with the Shopware community at SCD 2022.

We are proud to announce that the first pilot projects for the Shopware Enterprise Cloud have now gone online. Until now, the enterprise solutions were only available as self-managed variants, but now we are also bringing the advantages and our years of experience in the enterprise segment to the cloud. This gives Shopware merchants the opportunity to realize their individual vision of digital commerce in a fast, scalable and flexible way while fully concentrating on the success of their business. 

Moreover, thanks to the Shopware Enterprise Cloud, the full potential of the open commerce philosophy can be exploited, as it enables the perfect combination of composable and open commerce. Shopware's comprehensive service offering also includes the simple integration of Shopware solutions into users' own value chains and the rapid establishment of a stable and reliable infrastructure. But that's not all that is in store for us in the coming weeks. We are crossing the ocean and opening our very first office in the city where dreams come true – New York City! We want to grow internationally in order to offer our global community an outstanding digital shopping experience. Our new partnership with Carlyle and PayPal gives us an important boost in this regard.


The premises in the United States are to be occupied as early as the beginning of June 2022, so that we can get a foothold in one of the most important markets. From this point on, the specially founded company ____Shopware US Inc. will represent our business interests in the U.S. We are already excited and looking forward to our continued journey!

Besides an impressive lighting and stage concept, I was even more captivated by the atmosphere than usual. Seeing the many familiar faces, as well as new faces, showed me how strong our community is! My personal highlight this year was that I was able to support the speakers on the Inspiration Stage for the first time. I met many exciting personalities and was able to introduce them to the Shopware spirit. I especially remember the talk by Ken Hughes, who said that you can make a big impact with small gestures. He brought his own chocolate for the stage staff, making sure they remembered him!"
