Frequently asked questions

What are the support differences across plans, including Community Edition?

All plans – from Community Edition to Shopware Beyond – receive full support for Shopware Payments directly from Shopware. This includes assistance with onboarding, configuration, operational questions, and issue resolution, with clearly defined escalation paths into PayPal for payment-specific matters such as compliance, fund management, and transaction handling.

The core support model remains consistent across all plans, meaning Shopware Payments does not operate under a separate support structure. Response times and service levels follow the existing support model of each Shopware plan. Please refer to the pricing page for plan-specific response times.

For Community Edition merchants, Shopware provides an additional SLA with a response time of five business days during core support hours (Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00 CET, excluding public holidays in NRW).

In which countries is Shopware Payments available?

Shopware Payments is introduced through a phased rollout, aligned with local regulatory requirements and operational readiness. The initial launch covers Germany and Austria, with a structured expansion planned across key EU markets. Availability in each country depends on factors such as licensing, compliance frameworks, and supported payment methods. As a result, both market access and feature scope may vary during the rollout phase.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information – including supported countries, timelines, and available payment methods – merchants should consult Shopware directly or contact their account manager.

Is Shopware Payments mandatory? Are there penalties for using other PSPs?

Shopware Payments is optional by design. This reflects our open philosophy: merchants retain full freedom of choice in how they structure their payment architecture. There are no penalties, restrictions, or commercial disadvantages for not using Shopware Payments.

Adoption is driven by value, not enforced through platform constraints. Merchants can choose the setup that best aligns with their operational and financial strategy:

  • Use Shopware Payments as an integrated, platform-native solution

  • Continue using the PayPal plugin

  • Integrate and operate with other payment service providers

How is Shopware Payments different from other payment integrations?

Unlike external integrations, Shopware Payments is natively embedded into the Shopware platform. This eliminates the need for additional connectors and reduces technical dependencies, resulting in a more stable and efficient setup.Merchants benefit from a unified user experience, centralized management of payment methods and data, and streamlined operations across the entire payment lifecycle.

This integration also enables tighter alignment between commerce and payments, improving performance, reducing complexity, and supporting scalable growth.

How is Shopware Payments priced? What are the transaction fees?

Shopware Payments follows a transaction-based pricing model, where fees are applied per successful transaction. There are no upfront license costs so that merchants can activate Shopware Payments without a fixed financial commitment. This approach aligns costs directly with business performance and transaction volume.

Specific pricing – including transaction rates and any additional fees – may vary depending on region, payment methods, and individual business requirements. For a detailed and up-to-date overview of pricing and applicable fees, please refer to the Shopware pricing page or consult Shopware directly.
