Shopware 6 has been redesigned from the ground up. The completely new technological basis provides the perfect foundation for the future of eCommerce and online experiences.
Widely tried and tested, the Shopware 5 product continues to offer state-of-the-art technology and a comprehensive ecosystem.
Among the shifting sands of evolving technology, we wanted to provide our users with a sustainable solution that could stand the test of time. Our next software generation – Shopware 6 – delivers a completely new technical foundation that offers more flexibility, less complexity, and is perfectly prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s technological world today.
Shopware 6 is our answer to the challenges of a complex, ever-changing eCommerce world - it gives you the freedom to leverage your growth potential and focus on the perfect customer experience. Regardless of place, time or end device.
As people evolve, so does their behaviour, expectations and requirements - and the flexible core of Shopware 6 can keep up with these changes.
Using the API, you can flexibly connect individual components – e.g. the storefront/administration, or even third-party solutions like ERP, PIM or CRM – within one centralised and integrated system. Whether smallest start-up or complex enterprise project, every retailer has the same opportunity to quickly react to market changes, create cross-channel customer experiences, and realise their growth potential.
The Shopware 5 line is a highly mature, stable, and feature-rich eCommerce solution that is currently being used by over 80,000 online merchants. Even after the release of Shopware 6, Shopware 5 will continue to be developed and supported for an additional five years. Regular releases are planned until the middle of 2021, security and important bugfixes until middle 2023, and security updates until 2024.
Due to the different architectures of the two systems, a major break between Shopware 5 and Shopware 6 cannot be avoided, and migration will not be possible with a single mouse click. However, one of our highest priorities is making sure that merchants have convenient migration paths for all use cases.
For Shopware 5 and all Premium Plugins we offer:

Further information can be found in the documentation.
With openness as one of our core values, we will always provide you with a transparent overview of our product development. The Shopware Roadmap shows you what we are working on, what we want to tackle next, and what visions we have for the future. To the roadmap

Developers can view and install the most current version of Shopware 6 on GitHub. You can find a transparent overview of all planned features and release dates in the Shopware Roadmap.
The release of Shopware 6.0.0 is scheduled for July 2019 (see roadmap for details).

From the first business idea to household name: Shopware 6 offers suitable solutions for retailers at every step of the way, supporting your business model as it grows in the highly dynamic world of eCommerce.
The functional scope of the Premium Plugins have been incorporated into the core and Professional Edition, thus increasing the value of the product.
Shopware 5 customers will be given the opportunity to link a Shopware 6 staging domain (at no extra cost) to their existing domain. This domain can be operated in parallel and migrated later so that the live shop can be converted to Shopware 6. An active maintenance contract is also carried over to the new shop.
Yes! Of course, we recognise that the demand for "eCommerce in the cloud" is growing and many users are looking for solutions outside of today's on-premise world.
In 2020, we will be introducing other products and services that will be provided in the cloud, in addition to the existing product line.
The new architecture is flexible, making it much easier for developers to get started. It is also high-performance, standards-based and easy to maintain.
Now all areas of the shop can also be operated automatically via an API. This can be used by ERP providers, fulfillment service providers, marketplaces or other components of a system architecture to automate processes within Shopware. In concrete terms, this approach facilitates the integration of sales channels such as Amazon, eBay, Alexa, "Buy Buttons", and many more into a retailer’s multichannel strategy.
Following our API-first approach, we are perfectly prepared to enable not only “normal” eCommerce projects, but also the integration of Shopware in every conceivable scenario and direction – whether they include topics like voice/car commerce or the creation of new sales channels, e.g. Instagram or Amazon. By removing the current boundaries of eCommerce, Shopware 6 places the focus on creating the perfect customer experience.
